The HCPF emerged from the influence of a smaller group representing course providers; the Council for Homeopathy Colleges (CHC), which was established in 1999. At the time, the regulation of the homeopathy profession was undergoing review via an organisation called the Council of Organisations Registering Homeopaths (CORH). The CHC was formed in order to ensure that the homeopathy course providers were represented at CORH council, and in its working groups.
The CHC brought about many important changes to the proposed regulation under discussion, and when CORH eventually disbanded in 2007, the course providers regrouped to form a new and independent forum open to all the training organisations – the Homeopathy Course Providers Forum.
